Prior to your appointment

Please arrive without any cosmetics or products on or around the eye area. This includes but isn't limited to, concealer, serums, moisturizers, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara or foundation. It is best to avoid mascara use for a few days prior to your appointment to ensure there is no residue left over which will effect the retention of your extensions.

Cleanse your lashes and surrounding eye area thoroughly before your appointment. If you arrive to your appointment with mascara on or any residue on your lashes a $10 cleaning fee will be applied. This is so important, if your lashes aren't clean your retention will be greatly affected. Cleaning of your lashes will also cut into your full set or fill service time. Avoid any caffeine consumption. The use of caffeine often makes your eyes jittery. This not only makes the service more difficult to perform but is also usually uncomfortable for the client .

If you wear contacts, please arrive to your appointment wearing your glasses instead.

FAQ

During this process, one individual extension is skillfully applied to one natural lash with medical grade adhesive to create a longer and fuller lash line. Synthetic mink extensions are used during this process, real mink extensions are never used at Wink Beauty Bar. Along with the animal cruelty concerns, they often cause allergic reactions and do not hold their curl. Eyelash extensions are completely customizable based on the natural health and look of your lashes. It's so important clients absolutely love their lashes! However, at Wink Beauty Bar the health of your natural lashes is number one priority. Excellent care, precision, attention to detail and high standards ensure clients' health and amazing results. Extensions that are too long or thick for your natural lashes will never be applied. A consultation will always be performed to discuss the desired results and what is possible based on the natural state and look of your eyelashes.

How long do they last?

Eyelash extensions are individually applied to one isolated natural lash at a time. As a result of this, when your natural lash sheds the attached extension will fall off as well.  A fill is recommended every two to three weeks to ensure a beautiful and full lash line. Every clients growth cycle differs and following aftercare instructions will greatly effect the retention of your eyelash extensions.

What should I expect at my appointment?

When scheduling an appointment online, you will fill out required consultation forms. This will give your aesthetician the information needed to ensure there are no contraindictions for the service. When you arrive we will discuss the forms and desired look. Any questions or concerns will also be discussed at this time. After a thorough consultation, we will start the service! Eyelash extensions are a relaxing and pain free process, most people love this time to quietly relax or even fall asleep! A full set takes about two-three hours so please be prepared to peacefully relax for a few hours. It is important to not drink caffeine prior to your appointment to minimize any jittery eyes which can affect the outcome.

What to expect during a fill appointment?

Since your eyelash extensions will fall off with your natural lash when it sheds, a fill is recommended every 2 to 3 weeks. Any extensions that have grown out with your natural lash will be removed and a new extension will be applied. Also, a new extension will be applied to any new growth. Remember, it is NORMAL to lose your natural lashes. On average, we lose 3-5 natural lashes a day! A healthy lash cycle includes the shedding process, which is why fills are done.

Are eyelash extensions harmful to your natural lashes?

When eyelash extensions are applied correctly, they do not cause any damage to your natural lashes. Damage is caused when extensions that are too long or thick in diameter are applied to your natural lashes or during the process proper isolation isn't performed and multiple lashes are glued together. Both of these things alter the natural growth and shedding cycle resulting in damage over time. When one extension is applied to one isolated natural lash, the natural lash is able to go through its growth cycle without any interruptions.

Fill from another salon

At Wink Beauty Bar, a free consultation will need to be scheduled for a fill from another salon. During the free consultation, your lashes will be assessed and if they are done properly and not causing damage, we will schedule out a fill based on retention. If there are application issues, this will be discussed and a removal and new set will be recommended.

Aftercare

Avoid getting your beautiful new eyelash extensions wet for 24 hours. After this time, you may swim, workout and clean them as often as needed.

  • Avoid excessive heat or steam. Heat can singe your lashes and if this is done they may need to be removed.

  • Thoroughly cleanse your lashes daily. Wink Beauty Bar offers a cleanser specifically for eyelash extensions. There is no guarantee when other products are used on your extensions. The eyelash cleanser kit is available for retail $25. If you are not cleansing your lashes, there will be a $10 charge each time

  • Brush your lashes every day. A brush will be given to use after the service. It is recommended to change out your brush and get a clean one so when you need a new one, just ask! Feel free to bring in any old mascara wands, I donate them to Wands for Wildlife which are used to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of wild animals!

  • Avoid the use of any products containing glycol, oil or carbonates. The use of mascara that isn't specifically formulated for eyelash extensions may not be used. The ingredients in mascaras break down the adhesive and are usually difficult to clean off your extensions.

  • Do not try to remove your own extensions. Schedule a removal with Wink Beauty Bar to ensure this is properly done and no damage is caused.
